Dundee, officially the City of Dundee, is Scotland's fourth largest city and the 51st most populous built-up area in the United Kingdom. Under the name of Dundee City, it forms one of the 32 council areas used for local government in Scotland. MAIN TOURIST ATTRACTIONS • McManus Galleries: The Galleries house a museum and art gallery with a collection of fine and decorative art as well as a natural history collection. • The Howff: An ancient cemetery in the heart of Dundee, it was used as a burial ground for the people of the city for centuries until the sepulchre was discontinued in the 19th century. • Broughty Castle: A 15th-century coastal fort with a museum about the castle and Broughty Ferry. • Mills Observatory: A "public" astronomical observatory, with free entry; its dome is made of papier-mâché, oddly enough. • Dundee Science Centre: Focuses mainly on the life sciences with particular emphasis on the senses and robotics. • Tay Rail Bridge: Part of which collapsed in the 1800s. Dundee volcano, situated on the summit where you will see impressive views of the city. • Camperdown Wildlife Park: Houses animals such as brown bears, lemurs, wallabies, maras, otters, and various bird species.
