Maglie Italy

Maglie is a town and comune in the province of Lecce in the Apulia region of south-east Italy. The cathedral (Duomo, also called the Chiesa Collegiata) was built in the late 18th century on the site of two earlier churches dating back to the 14th and 16th centuries. Its bell tower (1686–90), about 48 metres (157 ft) high, is the tallest in the province. The four upper storeys are attributed to Giuseppe Zimbalo. The Church of Madonna delle Grazie, in Baroque style (early 16th century), has a 1645 Baroque altar and 17th-century canvases. It also features a column similar to Lecce’s Column of St Oronzo by Zimbalo, built between 1684 and 1687. Other notable religious buildings include the 18th-century Church of Madonna Addolorata. The town also has the Palazzo Baronale, a historic baronial palace.
