Mahahual, Mexico

Mahahual Mexico

Mahahual is a small village on the Costa Maya, in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco on the Caribbean coast of Quintana Roo, Mexico. Mahahual has sandy beaches, thatched palapas, and the Mesoamerican Reef running along the shoreline. One of the main draws of Mahahual is its proximity to Banco Chinchorro, a coral atoll designated as a nature reserve and home to the second-largest barrier reef in the world. This reef lies in the Caribbean Sea off the coast of Quintana Roo and Belize and boasts exceptional biodiversity, making it a fantastic spot for diving. The area is also bordered by extensive tracts of untouched tropical forest.
